Pupil Attainment 2022

Schools are not required to publish their 2022 Key Stage 2 results, as the Department for Education is not publishing this data. This is because statutory assessments returned for the first time since 2019, without adaptations, after disruption caused by the pandemic.

This is a transitional arrangement for one year only, and the Department for Education plans to publish Key Stage 2 school performance for 2023.

However, we as a school have decided to publish our results for 2022, which are listed below.

The information below provides details of the Year 6 results for 2022. The tables show the school data compared to the provisional National data for maths, reading, writing and grammar, punctuation and spelling. The Hermitage School has a specialist centre for children with moderate learning difficulties (The Orchard Centre); in 2022 the pupils from the Orchard Centre did not sit the statutory tests. Pupil Attainment 2019

The information below provides details of the Year 6 results for 2019. The tables show the school data compared to the provisional National data for maths, reading, writing and grammar, punctuation and spelling. The Hermitage School has a specialist centre for children with moderate learning difficulties (The Orchard Centre); in 2019 the pupils from the Orchard Centre did not sit the statutory tests. Our data is presented showing results including and excluding pupils from the Orchard Centre.

Attainment: Children’s results are reported using a scaled score. A scaled score of 100 represents the expected standard for each test. A child achieving a scaled score of 100 or more means they are working at or above the expected standard in the subject. Less than 100 means that they may need more support to reach the expected standard. The highest scaled score possible at KS2 is 120, and the lowest is 80. There is more information on scaled scores at:  www.gov.uk/guidance/scaled-scores-at-key-stage-2.

Progress: Progress scores for reading, writing and maths will be centred around zero, with most schools within the range of -5 to +5.

  • A score of 0 means pupils in this school on average do about as well at KS2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.
  • A positive score means pupils in this school on average do better at KS2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally and a negative score means pupils in this school on average do not do as well at KS2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.
